TOKYO Japan on Wednesday reiterated its stance that North Korea should be provided no energy aid unless there is convincing evidence that it will shut down and suspend its nuclear activities in line with a six-party agreement.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuhisa Shiozaki said in a regular news conference that North Korea's initial denuclearization steps and the energy aid should "take place simultaneously" and "not one before the other," adding Pyongyang must carry out its overdue pledge whose April deadline is long past.
