Beyonce refuses to cover up for Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR — Beyonce Knowles has canceled her Malaysian concert after she reportedly refused to cover up. The singer is said to have told promoters she was not willing to tone down her Kuala Lumpur show on Nov 1 to appease Muslim critics.

Pineapple Concerts issued a statement announcing the cancelation but refused to give a reason. The 26-year-old star had been asked by Pineapple Concerts to make her show more "family friendly" following Muslim protests.

Razlan Ahmad Razali, chairman of Pineapple Concerts, said: "We've informed Beyoncé's management about this issue of clothes, but it takes some of the fun out of it. Beyonce won't be able to do the kind of show here that she does elsewhere."

Tickets for Beyonce's show at Kuala Lumpur's 9,000-seat Putra Stadium had not yet gone on sale. The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage introduced rules in 2005 stating female performers must show no skin from the tops of their chests to their knees.

Last month, Gwen Stefani chose to don a series of different flesh-covering outfits when she performed in front of 7,000 fans in Kuala Lumpur.

they don't need you... and you most certainly don't need them.

"Arouses lust in men..."!? Pfft. if they can't control their urges, they're awfully weak as men. Lack of discipline from a religion that says they focus on "discipline".

I'm surprised that Beyonce would cancel. She could have changed her attire and still looked sexy. Gwen Stefani looked very alluring when she covered up last month for her Malaysia concert.

"Just like when they come to our countries, they force their stuff down our throats and here is one example of someone saying "hey, how does it feel?""

Oh, crap... Here we go. Another "foreigners are evil" rant...

Prudes. And what gives these prudes the right to impose their prudish ways on the entire population?

The funny thing is the Chinese Malaysians could have cared less what she was dressed like. It's just the ethnic Malays here that are pressing the issue

Thats what Muslims do when they have enough numbers, demand everyone conform to their way of life or threaten anything form death to boycots.

Have the concert in Singapore, a secular country, and those mussels, (I mean fans in general, nobody targeted), who really want to see her can travel from anywhere in Asia to see her.

Good for her. They gave her a take-it-or-leave it choice, and she chose to leave it. No harm, no foul. She respected local sensibilities while declining to pander to them.

And in fairness to Beyonce, she does have an awful lot to cover up.

Another option would have been an anatomically correct flesh-colored jumpsuit that covered her from shoulder to knee, with "CENSORED" written over all the naughty bits.

If covering had been announced in advance as a condition to playing there, then I think it would have behooved her to respect that request. But to have it come after she was scheduled to play makes it look like intimidation. In that sense, I think it's good that she bowed out. Respect is a two-way street.

Beyonce looks good even when I'm squinting, cross-eyed and blinking sweat out of me peepers. She's hodgeof the first water, and anyone who demands she put more clothes on is clearly either deranged or a poove.
