Depends on how. The market here is pretty much saturated. The domestic brewers have all been aping each other for years in launching endless new label designs with little difference in substance. This is not the formula of success for a good brewer. They need to come up with a good product, stick with it and market it at a fair price. Fair price or fair competition is not exactly something that has been high on the priority list of beer brewers in Japan.
If Kirin is planning to sell beer in other Asian countries at comparable prices in Japan, they won't be selling much. No, they will expand their market share by selling at below cost, subsidized by the Japanese consumer.
The beer industry is a cartel controlled industry and that's great for the share holders.
